History

The Austrian Institute of International Affairs - OIIP was the host institution for the 5th session of the annually rotating international school for post-graduate students in International Relations.

For 2004 the theme of study was Southeastern Europe in a Comprehensive Security Perspective.

The decade of deadly conflict in South East Europe illustrates the necessity to study and implement a multi-dimensional concept of security. The summer school dealt with the conflicts and security threats at stake in a multi-faceted way and discussed the historical, social and economic dimension of fostering security in the post-war zone of South East Europe.
The OIIP organised this Summer School as a member of the Standing Group on International Relations – SGIR, within the framework of the European Consortium on Political Research – ECPR.

Previous sessions have been held at Tampere, Finland; Grenoble, France; Jena, Germany and Canterbury, Great Britain.
