Born on January 19, 1969 in Linz (Upper Austria). Studies in Mathematics, Biology and Palaeontology as well as Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna and in Utrecht (the Netherlands). Currently finishing a PhD in Cultural and Social Anthropology (on the Politics of culture of new social movements in Colombia). Extensive field research over prolonged periods in Colombia and the Philippines. In 2000 guest researcher at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota, in 2001 and 2004 fellow at the Instituto Colombiano de Antropología e Historia (ICANH) in Bogota and 2005 fellow at the Third World Studies Center der UP Diliman (TWSC), Philippines. 

Work experience:
Former positions From 2002 up to 2004 staff at the Social and Cultural Anthropology unit at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (AAS), then researcher at the same unit for the OIIP-AAS project “Is European Development Policy an Alternative to the ‘Global War on Terrorism’?” funded by the Austrian Central Bank fund for scientific research (ONB Project No. 10908) 
Teaching:
Guest lecturer at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota (2000), lecturer at the department for Philosophy of Science of the University of Vienna
