SGIR Summer School 2004 (July 12th - 24th)

Southeastern Europe in a Comprehensive Security Perspective

The Standing Group on International Relations - SGIR within the European Consortium for Political Research - ECPR has since 1999 been organising an annual summer school. In 2004 the Austrian Institute of International Affairs - OIIP was the host institution for this school.

The theme of study was Southeastern Europe in a Comprehensive Security Perspective. The decade of deadly conflict in South East Europe illustrates the necessity to study and implement a multi-dimensional concept of security. The summer school dealt with the conflicts and security threats at stake in a multi-faceted way and discussed the historical, social and economic dimension of fostering security in the post-war zone of South East Europe.
