Portrait: Sophie Schlingmann

Sophie Schlingmann is currently in the final phase of her Master’s degree of Political Science at the University of Leipzig. She also completed part of her studies at Ben Gurion University in Israel. For her Master’s thesis, she is working on the topic of the crisis of representation in Germany and its significance for the rise of right-wing populism. Her research focuses on democratic theory and authoritarian developments, especially with a focus on Europe. She also studies the rise of far-right structures in society and in the European party spectrum.As part of her cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, she is involved in the project "Combating Right-Wing Extremism – Strengthening Democracy" in Saxony.
