For most of the members of the international community, Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine came as a surprise. Symmetric warfare, the attack of one state on another seemed to be a phenomenon of the past.\u00a0 In hindsight, the believe in a rule-based international order and the power of multilateral organizations proved too be too strong. Before all, the war has affected Ukraine and Ukrainians, but it has also taken a toll on most of us, and it has certainly changed our perceptions of international politics and international security.
\nOver the last year, the experts of the Austrian Institute for International Affairs diuscussed with international experts and produced a large number of analyses, articles and op-eds dealing with the effects of the war on different areas and regions.
