Maria Patsikouridi, MA is a Greek former primary school teacher who decided to go back to the other side of education to further study the link between education and security. She is now an International Master’s student in Security, Intelligence, and Strategic Studies (IMSISS), during which she studied at the University of Glasgow, the University of Trento, and Charles University Prague. At OIIP she is writing her thesis about preventing radicalisation through education. Maria completed a BA in Primary School Education and an MA in Society, Education, and Pedagogy at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her dissertation “Education and Political Violence” was the sparkle to engage with the academic field of security. She has presented and published academic articles to raise awareness about the impact of educational inequality on marginalization and political violence. Since 2021 she is part of the CiCea Association, researching the importance of citizenship education in modern security issues.
