The panel will explore how women-led and feminist movements are responding to the growing wave of anti-gender rhetoric, policy rollbacks, and authoritarian pressures across Europe and beyond. These trends—reflected in restrictions on reproductive rights, attacks on gender studies, and shrinking civic space—threaten hard-won gains in gender equality and democratic participation. We aim to discuss the strategies feminist movements employ to resist these challenges, the transnational dimensions of their activism, and why defending gender equality today is not only a feminist cause but a fundamental democratic imperative.
