Carter Barnsback, BA

Carter Barnsback completed his BA at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2023, majoring in International Studies and Russian. Following his graduation, he spent a year in Kazakhstan as part of a program by the United States Department of State, where he attained working-level proficiency in Russian. In late August 2025, he moved to Vienna to pursue a Master’s degree in Human Rights at Central European University. His academic focus lies on the rule of law as well as refugee and asylum law. At the institute, he will assist Daniela Pisoiu in her work on the PARTESS-COM project, which promotes preventive protection measures for religious communities.
