Geneva Peace Forum meets Vienna

03.06.2026
10:00 - 20:00

Park Hyatt Wien
Am Hof 2, 1010 Wien

Building on the success of the first two editions in New York (2023) and Addis Ababa (2025), Geneva Peace Forum Meets Vienna will bring together Geneva and Vienna’s peace and security communities for a one-day event on 3 June 2026. This third edition of the Geneva Peace Forum Meets series will offer an opportunity to foster dialogue between international and regional peace and security actors, spotlight emerging challenges and opportunities for sustainable peace, and strengthen collaboration across Geneva and Vienna. Hosted at the Hyatt Hotel, the event will convene policymakers, practitioners, and thought leaders to exchange insights and co-create solutions that advance peacebuilding efforts in Europe and beyond, continuing the spirit of partnership and innovation demonstrated in New York and Addis Ababa.

Programme

The programme features a mix of plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities open to all. With the interdependence of peace and security serving as a guiding thread throughout the day, discussions will focus on areas where Geneva and Vienna show strong synergies and greatest potential for cooperation. Topics covered will include mine action, security sector governance, food security, PeaceTech and artificial intelligence, human security and child protection, as well as inclusive mediation. Co-organisers

A project of the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform (GPP), the event will be co-organized with the Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip)—Austria’s leading think tank on international affairs— in coordination with and with the support of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Swiss Permanent Missions in Geneva and Vienna.

Audience and Participants

Mobilizing key actors from both Geneva and Vienna, the event will primarily target Vienna-based organizations, practionners, and experts active in all areas relevant to peace and security matters, as well as representatives of States and the general public.

On the occasion of the Swiss chairpersonship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2026, the event will also put a special emphasis on the role of the OSCE and related actors.

Outcomes & Follow‑Up

This event will feed into:

  • A convening initiative during the UN‑led Peacebuilding Week in New York (June 2026)
  • A follow‑up discussion at the 2026 Geneva Peace Forum
  • A summary report on synergies and complementarities between Geneva and Vienna
