Join the oiip as an Ernst Mach Fellow

The Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip) invites early career scholars with an excellent track record in the fields of international relations, security studies, and/or political science who wish to conduct a research project in Vienna to apply for an Ernst Mach Grant – worldwide https://oead.at/en/to-austria/grants-and-scholarships/ernst-mach-grant/ The grant is provided by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research and targets young scholars (up to 35 years old) with a competitive profile from around the world. The grant with a duration of up to 9 months covers a small stipend and living costs.

The oiip supports the application process and acts as host institution for incoming fellows. We provide an institutional affiliation, office space, access to our infrastructure, as well as involvement in a lively academic and policy community. Fellows will be expected to contribute to the output of the institute in the form of academic publications, policy papers, as well as academic and public events (conferences, workshops, and panel discussions).

We encourage researchers with projects proposals that coorespond with the institute’s two major research areas: "Security Politics and Political Violence" and "Europe and its Neighbourhood" and have a regional focus on Southeastern Europe and Russia, MENA and Turkey, China and the Indo-Pacific, and transatlantic relations.

We are particularly interested in projects that contribute to or complement our current research topics (https://www.oiip.ac.at/en/research-areas/)

Interested researchers are kindly invited to send an academic CV and a short project outline (1.5 page max.) to info@oiip.ac.at before Dec. 15th, 2022. Notitications regarding the oiip’s support for applications and recommendations regarding the proposal will be sent out on Jan 11th, 2023, the latest. The final deadline for the submission of the proposal to oead is February 1st, 2023.
