Panel discussion in the context of the wiiw-oiip seminar series 'Europe in a Fragmented World: Geo-economic and Geo-political Dynamics'

In Episode 1 of Season II of our “Europe in a Fragmented World: Geo-economic and Geo-political Dynamics” series*, the panel will examine the long-term prospects for stabilizing and rebuilding Gaza. Beyond addressing immediate humanitarian needs, what steps are required to lay the foundations for sustainable recovery and governance? How realistic are the Trump administration’s plans for Gaza? What are the prospects for economic linkages between the Palestinian territories in the West Bank, Gaza and the wider region?  What roles will the various regional actors play, and how can the European Union contribute to shaping a viable path forward?

Panelists:
Nada Majdalani
Regional Director of EcoPeace (Ramallah, Palestine)

Yitzhak Gal
Economist at the Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies (Mitvim)

Ibrahim Awad
Political Economist, American University in Cairo (AUC)

Moderator:
Cengiz Günay
Director Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip)

* In this series we aim to analyse geopolitical and geoeconomic trends and their impact on Europe’s future from an interdisciplinary perspective. The series seeks to contribute to the ongoing debates on how to reposition Europe within an increasingly politically unstable and economically competitive international system.
