Peacebuilding After Dayton – Lessons for Today

Peacebuilding After Dayton – Lessons for Today

03.12.2025
18:00 - 19:30

International Institute for Peace (IIP)
Möllwaldplatz 5, 1040 Wien

As part of our “30 Years After Dayton” conference marking the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip), the International Institute for Peace (IIP), in cooperation with the Karl-Renner-Institut, the University of Graz, and Political Capital warmly invite you to join us for this public panel event.

Three decades after the Dayton Peace Agreement, its impact and relevance remain a powerful lens for understanding both conflict and peace. Dayton succeeded in ending a brutal war, yet the country has struggled to secure lasting stability. Looking beyond Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dayton’s legacy raises pressing questions: what lessons can guide the resolution of today’s global conflicts, and which strategies from the past might help address contemporary tensions and foster durable peace? The panelists will draw comparisons and offer insights to highlight how Dayton’s experiences can inform peacebuilding efforts around the world.
