Olena Butnyk, BA
Research Associate
Olena Butnyk, is a student assistant at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs. She studied Political Science and History at Heidelberg University and Sciences Po Paris and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Political Science at the University of Vienna. Her main areas of interest include international security policy, peace and conflict studies, and democratization processes in the post-Soviet space. She has completed internships at the United Nations, the OSCE, the EU’s Political and Security Committee, as well as at Luxembourg’s diplomatic missions in Vienna, Brussels, and Berlin.
At the oiip, she works on the EU-funded project PARTES-COM, which focuses on protection strategies for places of religious, social, and educational gathering, with an emphasis on risk prevention, societal resilience, and security policy challenges.
