It is only during ‘critical junctures’ like the war in Ukraine and the deepening rift between the United States and Europe, that security architectures are likely to be fundamentally reconfigured. ln addition to continuing efforts to support Ukraine and restore peace and justice, the time seems ripe for an in-depth, 'beyond the horizon' assessment of Europe’s security order; the regimes, mechanisms and tools we want to restore and preserve, and what needs to be reinvented in order to allow an often marginalized Europe to act as a global superpower and overcome its crisis of confidence.

The Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip) is organizing, in cooperation with and with the generous support of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) – Wien Multilateral Dialogue, a whole-day high-level conference on "Post-War Europe: How to Rebuild our Security Architecture?" on Tuesday June 16, 2026, in Vienna, Austria. Please find attached a short concept note about the event, as well as a draft preliminary program.

Please join us at Hotel Regina on June 16! And stay tuned for the detailed agenda of the Conference which will be posted shortly, together with the link to register.
