Dr. Berfin Çakın

Berfin Çakın is an Affiliated Researcher and a former Ernst Mach Fellow. She is a postdoctoral researcher at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Italy, working on the EU-funded project REVOLTS, which examines the long-term impacts of protests on democracy. She has published numerous works on political polarization, gender equality attitudes, and civil society. She earned her MA in Public Administration from the University of Twente in 2017 and her PhD in Political Psychology from Istanbul Medeniyet University in 2022. Her PhD thesis explored gendered ontological insecurities in Turkey and Malaysia, and her paper derived from her doctoral thesis received the Best Conference Paper award from the Council for European Studies, Gender and Sexuality Network.
