Dr. Loïc Simonet
Post-Doc Researcher

Loïc Simonet started his career at the French Defence Ministry in Paris. In 2008, he was appointed as Politico-Military Counsellor of the French Permanent Representation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna. In 2013, he joined the Secretariat of the OSCE as Senior External Co-operation Officer, until June 2021. In this capacity, he liaised with the European Union and NATO.

His personal research interests include:

  • Oil and Gas Pipelines in International Law and International Relations, with more than 20 publications, incl. a book on “Les pipelines en droit international et dans les relations internationales” (Paris, Pedone, 2021, 359 p.).
  • Disarmament and Arms Control, incl. a book on “Le Traité sur le Commerce des Armes” (Paris, Pedone, 2015, 220 p.).
  • Border Walls around the world (book to be published in 2023).

His collaboration with the oiip focuses on:

  • European Security architecture;
  • Readjust and rebuild multilateralism to manage tomorrow’s challenges, with a special focus on the Vienna-based International Organizations and the OSCE.
